Chris was raised in the Lowcountry. From an early age, he displayed innate creativity and artistic ability which developed into a passion for all forms of art. This was encouraged by his large family of seven brothers and sisters, most of whom have also made careers in some form of art and design. He was introduced to the building trade at an early age under his father who was an architect and builder. His teenage years were spent on custom home sites with his father on Kiawah, Seabrook, Hilton Head, Charleston, and surrounding areas. After pursuing an education in art and design, Chris went to work for a then small millwork company located in upstate South Carolina where he fell in love with custom millwork and reclaimed wood products. In 1998 Chris started the Charleston Bay Company where he could incorporate his artistic background with his love for wood working to create “Art in Wood” and provide the Lowcountry with unique and one of kind wood products.
